| Why do you want to become a nanny? |
| I want to become a nanny becasue i love kids. i come from a big family and i love teaching them new things watching them grow and say and do things. example watching them from an infant to a toddler is a wonderful experience..saying "mama" "dadda" laughting singing crawling etc.It makes me feel proud to know that i had alot to do with them talking and being so smart, sharing with others, having good manners saying the magic words, excuse me please thank you.. |
| Describe your past childcare experience: |
| I have 6 yrs experience as a babysitter/nanny. I have worked with children newborn and up both amongst my family and my paid jobs.
I have worked in the Lakeview (clark & Diversey), Lincoln Park (Burling & North Ave) Wicker Park ( Division & Western areas. Two of my families relocated. One to Zurich Switzerland and one to Clarendon Hills Ilinois. My other family moved to Oak Park and I still keep in touch and babysit her two children now. (3yrs &18 months)Some things I did was make sure that the children's room & playroom is always clean, safe and organized. I did the children's laundry and put them away. I also loaded and unloaded the dishwasher and cleaned up behind us. I keep the sitting room tidy. No heavy housework as my priority is the child.
We go on outings to parks and bookstores, play games like peek a boo, tickle bug, read, wrestle, sing and dance, do puzzles, learn rhymes and jingles, 123 and Abc songs. Identify and name the letters of the alphabets and numbers. I like to teach them to be independent and teach them to help me to clean up when we make a mess. i also teach them the magic words and I am consistent with descipline.
(work along with the parents on what is allowed and what is not. I use my voice to command attention. (firm) and I use eye contact where I go down on my knees and talk to the child. If something in the room is causing the disciplinary problem I move it or move ourselves out of the room. I expect to be on the same page withthe parents.
I also keep a journal so that the parents could keep up with and be informed. |
