| Why do you want to become a nanny? |
| I would like to become a nanny because of my experience in teaching. Currently, I am working three jobs just to make ends meet. This past year, my district had fine arts budget cuts; my position was cut so low, so I left my job because I could not afford the commute and other expenses associated with it. One job I have now is Children's Lead Bookseller at Barnes and Noble in Skokie. I run story time for pre-schoolers and love it. It made me realize I need to be working with kids. I majored in education and have a passion for teaching and children. These are just a few reasons to skim the surface of the answer to this question. |
| Describe your past childcare experience: |
| For the past 10 years, I have been involved in education. Beginning in high school, I started volunteering at an elementary school and stayed there for six years in Kindergarten, first and second grade classrooms. I also enrolled in Service Learning and was assigned to Middle School Advanced French and third grade special needs classes. I entered college as an Elementary Education major and switched to Music Education. During college, I babysat occasionally. I was involved in elementary school internships and also placed in special needs classrooms. I student taught Kindergarten through fifth grades in order to graduate. Currently, I am certified to teach music in the states of South Carolina and Illinois. I have taught 6-12 grades professionally in schools in South Carolina and Illinois. I also have experience babysitting. Currently, I am working on a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with ESL Endorsement to further my professional and personal acumen working with children. |
