Things to do with your nanny in Huntington Beach, California

Huntington Central Park is 350 acres of cycling and strolling trails with two beautiful lakes. There are over 200 different species of birds, and because of its location, it is a popular spot with migrating birds. In the center of the park is Shipley Nature Center. An 18-acre preserve with nearly a mile of self guided nature trails with acres of flora and marsh in the woodlands. The visitor’s center also has a small museum with live rattlesnakes, turtles and other local species. The Huntington Library is located within the park and has the largest genealogical collection in Southern California. In another area of the park is an 18-hole Frisbee Golf Course. But let us not forget the 1.25 mile jogging course with eighteen exercise stations. And last but far from least, is a 25 acre equestrian center with a full time riding school. A variety of equestrian events are often held on Sunday afternoons, including polo matches. Something that nanny can’t miss!

Down on Center Avenue there is a “gotta go” place your nanny must visit! It is a collection of Bavarian Style Shops with cobbled stone lanes that are adorn by murals depicting parts of Europe. It is unique in that many of the shop owners live above their establishments, just like they do in Europe. The stores highlight imports from Europe, South America, and Asia. Look into the St. Judas Chaddeus village church, which holds a German service once a week. It will be so easy for nanny to believe she in another country when visiting here - as German is spoken on a regular basses. Huntington Beach hotel is near by where she can get a comfortable nights rest after drinking and dancing at the Oktoberfest.

The Exhibits are many – the Ukulele, King of the Surf, George Greenough, International Surfing, Skateboard, Rendezvous Ballroom Reunion and Skin Diving Exhibit. The Legden’s are impressive. Corky Carrol, Linda Benson and Bud Browne! The International Surfing Museum is dedicated to the preservation of this sports history, particularly its introduction to the mainland from Hawaii around 80 years ago. They have a Walk of Fame where each year a selection committee compiles ballots of qualified candidates. These are broken down into categories of achievements. The winner receives a coveted Duke Kahanamoko stone. Like Larry “Flame” Moore, 2003 and Gordon Clark in 2004! Have your nanny head straight for the gift shop for supplies of T-Shirts, books, DVDs, CDs, posters and way more cool stuff like surfboard clocks and Hawaiian print silk ties for the employer!
