You will want to perform reference checks on the nanny, contacting past employment and childcare references. For younger candidates, we also suggest speaking with the nanny’s parents prior to employment. Your instincts are the best tool for choosing a nanny. Some nannies may be located in another Country with a valid visa to come to the United States. You may want to verify their visa is valid before making any travel arrangements or agree to hire them. You can do so by going to the U.S. Embassy’s homepage, http://usembassy.state.gov/ Use your own discretion, but we recommend not sending money to nannies coming from another Country needing help with their Visa.
