My past childcare experience: In July 2004, I received my associates degree in accounting from Davenport University in Dearborn. In October, 2005 I began working for a Bank. After working there for nearly three years I decided the job just wasn't for me. I love kids and that is where my true passion lies. From the age of thirteen years old I was the primary babysitter and caregiver for two children --- Carrie who is now twenty-four; and Audrey who is twenty. From the time they came home from the hospital I was there for changing their diapers, feeding them and giving them baths. As they got a little older, I enjoyed playing with them, reading stories, and teaching them simple activities. When I got my driver's license at the age of eighteen, I became their nanny --- picking them up from school, taking them to doctors' appointments, packing their clothes for camp, taking them to soccer, gymnastics, music lessons, and dance. I even found time to help them with homework! In June 2005, sadly I stopped working for them because they moved about 40 miles away and the family did not need as much help due to the fact that the children were getting older. However, I am still great friends with the family. They are my "second family". In 2005,I worked in the mornings at a Bank and in the afternoons I took care of 2 girls. At the time they were 7 and 16 yrs. old. I would pick them up from school, make dinner, help with homework and take care of their dogs. I was always there to help them with their emotional needs as well. Whatever problem they may have had, they always knew they could talk to me about anything. When I first started working with the family, Deanna the 16 yr. old was not happy about having a nanny (lets face it what teenager would). It took some time but we have developed a really close bond. She knows she can come to me with anything that is bothering her. She even has my cell phone number and knows she is welcome to call me anytime she is feeling down or just needs someone to talk to. From 2007-2011 I had the privilege of working for a VERY nice family. I had the privilege of taking care of their little girl Grace (from the time she was two months old, until she was 4) and I got to watch her little brother until he was 1. Sadly, they moved to Boston and I miss them terribly. They were such a nice family to work for and we still keep in contact as well. :)I love them so much. In 2012 I worked for a family from January to June and watched their precious baby girl. Unfortunately, for me her mom decided to become a stay at home mom. In 2013 I cared for infant twin girls(for 8 months) but their grandma decided to retire (so she could take care of the girls) because she felt she was missing out on the girls lives so much. Since working for these great families I have continued to work for families with infant to school aged children. I have come to the conclusion that I want to work with children for the rest of my life. Taking care of children does not feel like a "job". It is my true passion. I understand and know the importance and enormous responsibility associated with taking care of children --- our most precious assets.
