My past childcare experience: As I stated before, I have been interested in childcare since I was a child, so I got babysitter certified and took my first CPR and First Aid class when I was thirteen. I started my first full-time nanny job in October of 2002 when I was just seventeen. I worked for a family that had three boys aged 1, 3 and 5. In February of 2004 they had a baby girl and I stayed on caring for these three children until May of 2007. I worked a few jobs over the next year, but none were as satisfying as working with children. In August of 2008 I applied to and was offered a job at The Goddard School as an assistant teacher for children ages 2-3. I absolutely loved this job and the opportunity to work with so many children at once. During this time I got my 90-hour certification in Early Childhood Development and attended many classes pertaining to teaching young children. The next year I moved to Austin, TX and began to nanny for new parents of 6-week-old twins. I was with this family for 5 years until the boys started going to school full-time. After that I took a year off from full-time childcare and did occasional babysitting for another set of toddler twins while also planning my wedding. My husband and I got married last year and now we have moved back to the East Coast to be closer to my family. I am hoping to find a new family to work with for full-time childcare for at least one, but preferably several years. If you think that I might be a good fit for your family, please send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and good luck on your search for childcare!

Additional Comments: I am a childcare master! I have been interested in caring for children since I was two years old and my infant sister became very ill. When my parents brought her back home from the hospital, they told me that she was going to need lots of help from me and my brothers to help her grow and I was instantly up for the job. The doctors were not sure how much the illness would affect her development and instructed my parents to raise her as normally as possible in order for her to reach her full potential. Because of this, I know the importance of using every moment possible as a teachable moment during a child’s formative years. As a child I tried to teach my sister everything that I was learning, from gymnastics to the Star-Spangled Banner. Sadly, due to the lack of oxygen she experienced during her illness, her mental development was extremely delayed and even now at the age of 29 her mental age is still that of a toddler. Growing up with and caring for her has made me extremely passionate about caring for those who cannot care for themselves and has gifted me with unlimited patience in regard to children (and most adults). I love how curious children are and enjoy finding the correct answer to satisfy them when they ask ‘why?’ I love exposing them to as many new things as possible so that they can figure out their passions as early as possible in life. I love to challenge children to keep on trying when something is tough so that they can experience the satisfaction of accomplishing their goals rather than intervening and doing it for them. I encourage kids to talk about their emotions and to understand them and keep them under control when they feel like they are going to have a meltdown. I strive to make them want to spend their time in the real world using their imagination rather than staring at a screen. And most of all I try to help them learn to be kind, well-mannered, caring individuals who live by the golden rule of “Treat others how you would like to be treated.” I believe that all of these things can be accomplished through fun, active and creative means because children do their best learning through play and by example.
