I'm a nanny because:

I remember ever since I was old enough to ride my bike across town to the public library, I'd spend the day in the children's section reading books and then loading up my backpack for the ride home. Along with a love for children's literature was my imaginative play with many of the kids in the neighborhood who were younger than me and setting up a pretend school, role playing as the teacher. All my childhood loves and passions were centered around children and as I became an adult, I choose elementary education as a career, and now as a children's author while having the opportunity to work with children as a nanny. I am an advocate for children, often lending them a voice when needed. I dedicated half of my life in teaching and in being a literacy coach, digging deep to reach the hearts and minds in developing lifelong learners. Their childlike enthusiasm for life, and ability to express love through their innocent nature gives me a motivation to enrich their lives to the fullest of my ability with nurturing guidance through the use of best personalized educational practices while honoring the parent/child relationship in my role as a nanny.

My past childcare experience: As an elementary school teacher and literacy coach, I spent many happy years fostering a love of reading. My primary focus was on children’s literature and the ways in which children learn through their encounters with books. While teaching writing, I found my own voice as a writer, and began to write my own stories, often drawing on my experience in the classroom, my knowledge of young readers, and my lessons on narrative. I specialize in children's stories, poetry, and short prose.

After nearly twenty-two years in education, I made a long-awaited career transition into publishing. The opportunity to assist an emerging author in publishing her first book was tremendously formative and exhilarating, as I learned all the facets of the industry – from editing to publicity, marketing, and production. In particular, I developed a strong command of line editing, website and social media management, and public relations. When the book was published, I knew I had found my second calling as a writer. In addition to my writing career, I serve families in New York City as a nanny and personal assistant, drawing on my extensive educational experience in caring for young children, supporting their development, managing household tasks, and promoting strong family relationships.
