I'm a nanny because:

I have been a professional nanny for eleven years now and also have experience in the classroom where I've taught infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. I was also an assistant director of a child care center. I currently work full-time in NYC. I have a college degree in Early Childhood Education which prepared me for a career in child care. I realize a nanny position requires skill, intelligence, and dedication. I carry these three traits along with patience, creativity, and organization. I have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with people. Talking to children at a level they can understand is a strength of mine, as well as treating them as individuals with individual needs.

My past childcare experience: Degree in early childhood education. Former assistant director of a child care center. Have taught infants, toddlers, and preschool both in the classroom and home environments. Experience with ages zero to 17. Professional nanny for eleven years. Author of an early childhood curriculum book for professional nannies and early childhood governesses!

Additional Comments: I believe in providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences and purposeful play that will stimulate the children's minds. (A balance of free play, ample outdoor time, and structured activity with opportunity for quiet times too.) Even young children can have activities incorporated in the areas of art (fingerpainting), language (reciting a fingerplay), motor skills (tossing bean bags), science (looking at bugs), social studies (talking about skin colors), math (counting or sorting blocks), food experiences (making muffins), creative movement (dancing with ribbons), creative dramatics (acting out a story), and music (singing with toy instruments). Children should also be taught tactics of social skills (acting out with puppets), health (handwashing), safety (wearing a seatbelt), and nutrition (classifying fruits and vegetables). The list never ends when it comes to finding things to do with children. Along with all of this, field trips to museums and the zoo are also fun!
